WHO
Rita comes to travel naturally as her father was posted in Germany during the 1960s. Rita tagged along on frequent trips through Bavaria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, and France.
The Camp ’otel car-top tent was later supplemented with a pop-up trailer hauled behind a Pontiac station wagon. The Camp’otel was developed originally in the 1961 in Forth Worth, Texas. .
Jim's father was a Navy officer, so trips could only be scheduled between assignments or when the boats he served on were back from patrols. These trips were sometimes in a camper towed behind a Ford but more often were just a series of motels or visits to family in West Virginia. It was in the West Virginia trips that Jim was introduced to an ever changing series of Jeeps, Broncos, Internationals, and Ford F-250 and 150s.
